In Japan, drinking Sake is a rather traditional affair, steeped in its
share of etiquette on how to hold and pass the cups. It's also common to
drink Sake warm in this culture. However, today Sake drinkers in many
parts of the world shun tradition, even serving some varieties of the
rice-based wine over ice. Sake aficionados will tell you that it's
actually a spiritual experience to drink sake, that they get an emotional
lift from it, not to mention energy from the nutrients that do wonderful
things for the human heart and imagination. And why wait for a sushi
dinner to enjoy it? This Sake for Four Set is complete with Carafe and
four individual Sake Cups. Great as a unique gift for a favorite cook or
dinner host. In an elegant green crackle glaze finish, the set includes 1
carafe and 4 cups.

Sake
Anyone who has ever been to Japan has probably fallen under the
spell of a soothing cup of sake at one time or another. Sake is a beverage fermented from rice, which is a grain. Sake
has a higher alcohol content than beer or wine but it is only slightly stronger
than wine. Its flavor-wise is closer to wine than beer, although it is indeed
uniquely different from wine. In general, sake is not aged and is
meant to be consumed soon after purchase. If kept cold and dark, it will last
six months to a year without degradation in flavor. Sake is a fermented brew
which contains 13-16 % alcohol, but is not a distilled spirit.
