A samovar is a heated metal container traditionally used to brew tea in and around Russia.
Samovar is a purely Russian invention. It is used for making tea. You can find samovars as well as in Turkey and other Slavic nations. Pour hot water into a small tea pot, swish and let stand for several minutes. Pour out water and add 2 or 3 tablespoons of loose tea. Add boiling water from the samovar to each individual cup. Serve with lemon,
milk or sugar. These Samovars are rated for 220 volts but will work fine at 110 volts (the US standard), thus a Voltage Converter is not necessary. Radio Shack sells an "outlet adapter" stock # 273-1406D.

Spring Samovar Set
$313.14 |
As all Gzhel works this charming big porcelain samovar was first created in a plaster form being cast from liquid porcelain mass. After the first burning the form was painted by cobalt. The background was kept white. Then the painting was covered by glaze. Glaze fused and made the surface of the work glassy, giving cobalt its blue colour. This is a top quality Russian Gzhel porcelain work that would make a fancy gift to anyone.
